“When I applied for membership in the Medi-Share program back in 1997, I was the "ideal" candidate. I was a strong, thin, healthy woman of 55. I was also physically active. My passion is hiking and I have climbed half of Colorado's 14,000-ft. mountains and hiked the Grand Canyon, rim to rim.

Of course, a testimony begins with a test. My particular test began on November 17, 1997. My husband does not share my love of hiking so I took a solo trip on an all terrain vehicle to view some remote sights in Arizona. The last sign of civilization that I saw on that fateful day was a sign that proclaimed, "Jesus Saves".

Something terrible happened on that trip. I'm not even certain what happened. I only know I lost control of the ATV. I regained consciousness days later in the hospital. As I came to I could hear my son reading to me from the Bible and my mother crying softly in the background.

The accident left me a quadriplegic with one eye. As the severity of my injuries became clear to me, I knew with absolute certainty that I could choose to be with Jesus or stay. I chose to stay and it is by God's grace that I am here today. I can never thank my fellow Medi-Share members enough for the $500,000 worth of financial gifts they contributed to my recovery. The cost of my hospitalization and subsequent therapy was staggering, yet I never had to worry about how I was going to pay my bills. The members supported me in other ways as well. I received literally hundreds of cards and letters. My husband read them to me and they were all filled with inspiring messages of God's love and petitions of prayer on my behalf. Those letters truly touched my heart and lifted my spirit when I was at my lowest.

Today, I rejoice that, in spite of my physical imperfections, I can still pray and offer encouragement to others and that I can watch my grandchildren learn to love God. I thank the members of Medi-Share and the loving staff at CCM for showing me God's love and buoying me up financially, emotionally and spiritually during a very difficult time in my life.”
